How it Works
Fundraise
Each swimmer pledges to raise a minimum of $500 (but many raise much more). You’ll receive substantial support and tools to assist you.
Train
With 12 hours of relay swimming in cold conditions, it’s wise to start with a steady training program and build up momentum.
Rewards
In the lead up to the Perkins Plunge, you can complete several easy tasks to collect badges on your personal dashboard. These badges unlock special rewards that will all be added to your Plunge pack. These sought after items are designed to keep you safe and offer relief from the elements while you swim to beat the world’s toughest diseases.

The Perkins Plunge is not a race, but a relay. Throughout the night, you will be engaged, supported and nourished – here are some of the things to look forward to.
OPENING CEREMONY
The Perkins Plunge starts with a moving ceremony featuring testimonials from one of the amazing Plunge Ambassadors and Perkins researchers.
HELP ON HAND
Swimming laps throughout the night is not going to be easy. Your body is going to feel tired, and you will need to take time out to recuperate and sleep. But you are in good hands with medical support throughout the event and massage therapists assisting your recovery.
SNACKS
Keep your energy levels topped up with a selection of free snacks and drinks offered throughout the night. And, in the morning, a hearty start to the day awaits at our Breakfast of Champions.
SLUMBER TIME
Space will be allocated for you and your team to grab a few ZZZs while the rest of your team complete their laps. Remember to bring something to sleep on and in for optimum comfort.
MEDALS
Each Plunger receives a commemorative medal for their efforts at the end of the event.
BREAKFAST OF CHAMPIONS
At 6am, the Perkins Plunge officially ends with a bang at the Breakfast of Champions. Join your fellow swimmers for a hot meal and a mimosa or two. Stick around for the awards ceremony where team and individual awards will be announced.
