Get ready to experience a life-changing, fully supported overnight relay swim. Rally your relay team and take the Plunge to help fund lifesaving WA research.
The Perkins Plunge is not a race, but a relay. Throughout the night, you will be engaged, supported and nourished – here are some of the things to look forward to.

OVERNIGHT ITINERARY
Saturday 9 Nov
4.30PM Gates open.
5.00PM Light dinner served.
5.30PM Opening Ceremony.
6.00PM On your marks, get set, swim
8.00PM Movies, music & snacks thoughout the night.
8.00 - 9.00PM Hour of Power. Roster on your fastest swimmers because for every lap completed, MinRes will add $10 to your team fundraising total.
9.00PM Swim through the night.
Sunday 10 Nov
6.00AM Everybody, out of the pool
6.10AM Event year book photo.
6.15AM MinRes Breakfast of Champions.
6.30AM Awards.
7.30AM End of event.
OPENING CEREMONY
The Perkins Plunge starts with a moving ceremony featuring testimonials from one of the amazing Plunge Ambassadors and Perkins researchers.
STAY TOASTY
Duck into the sauna or slip into the spa to ease away some of those aches and pains.
SLUMBER TIME
Space will be allocated for you and your team to grab a few ZZZs while the rest of your team complete their laps. Remember to bring something to sleep on and in for optimum comfort. You are are free to come and go but we have space if you wish to pitch a tent and stay overnight. BYO tent and equipment.
HELP ON HAND
Swimming laps throughout the night is not going to be easy. Your body is going to feel tired, and you will need to take time out to recuperate and sleep. But you are in good hands with medical support throughout the event and massage therapists assisting your recovery.
SOUPS UP
Keep your energy levels topped up with a selection of free soup, snacks and drinks offered throughout the night. And, in the morning, a hearty start to the day awaits at our Min Res Breakfast of Champions.
MEDALS
Each Plunger receives a commemorative medal for their efforts at the end of the event.
BREAKFAST OF CHAMPIONS
At 6am, the Perkins Plunge officially ends with a bang at the Breakfast of Champions. Join your fellow swimmers for a hot meal and a mimosa or two. Stick around for the awards ceremony where team and individual awards will be announced.
FRIENDS AND FAMILY
Friends and family are welcome to come and cheer you on throughout the night. If you wish them to come to the MinRes Breakfast of Champions, you will need to purchase tickets so we can cater for all. To book, visit Perkins Plunge Breakfast of Champions
PARKING AND ACCESS
Enter HBF Stadium from the main entrance on Stephenson Ave, turn right at the first round about and follow the Perkins Plunge signs to the back of the complex. There'll be plenty of parking here for all Plungers, and their family and friends. Enter the Perkins Pool area through the main gate at the rear - you can't miss it!
Rules
- There must be one team member in the pool
swimming laps at all times - If you feel unwell, please signal to an Event official and we will help you out of the pool.
- No bombies!
- No BYO alcohol.
- Pace yourselves.
- If you have less than 6 in the team, we will place you into an incomplete team.
ALL SWIMMERS RECEIVE:
- Wrist band with Swim chip.
- Dinner box, drinks, midnight snacks, and soup.
- Fully catered MinRes Breakfast
of Champions. - Hot showers and bathroom facilities.
- Massage therapists.
- St John’s Ambulance staff.
- Lifeguards.
PLEASE BRING ALONG
- Water bottle.
- Towels.
- Warm clothes.
- Sleeping equipment – such as tent,
- swag, sleeping bag, pillow – pegs must be 120mm or less.
- Noise-cancelling ear plugs for sleep.
- Swim equipment – goggles, swim fins, snorkel, floaties!
